A guide to cooking in Charcoal Grill

Another cooking fun starts when you start cooking with grilling method.  There are many types of grill available in the market like gas grill, electric grill or charcoal grill. These grills are differing from each other in size, accessories and cost. But here i talk about the grilling process done by charcoal.

There are two types of charcoal grill, chimney top charcoal grill and the other type that require lighter fluid. Chimney top charcoal grill does not need any liquid fluid and allows charcoal to burn evenly.

You can grill your food by two different methods direct and indirect. If you want to cook your food in direct heat method you have to spread the coals evenly throughout the cooking area. For direct heat method check the heat level is most essential thing.  As a charcoal grill guide, my suggestions for checking the heat level is hold your hand about six inches above the grill and if you hold your hand for two seconds it is hot and ready for cook. In this method you can cook burgers, kabobs, hotdogs, boundless poultry, fish and vegetables.

Indirect heat cooking requires that the grill have a hot and a cool side. This method is very much similar to baking process. In this method you have to heat half of the grill and then place the food to grill indirectly on the unheated side. In this method food is cooked by convection and radiant heat so it will cook evenly. This method is best choice for cooking whole birds, whole fish, large roasts etc.

You should maintain the safety measures when using charcoal grill. The grill should not be situating near the tree or grass as a spark can ignite the surrounding area. The grill should place out if the wind while using.

After cooking you should allow the grill to cool down completely. Then you should give it a good cleaning before putting it away. This will help you to use it properly next time.
